Why is purple the colour of feminism? 🟣 Listen to Christine Mohr in ‘Point J’ at RTS!
Every year, on June 14th, women in Switzerland march through the streets of Swiss cities to assert their rights and express their feminist spirit. You may have noticed that there is one dominant colour in the crowds - purple. This is no coincidence; purple has been adopted in Switzerland as the colour associated to women’s rights and feminism. In the last episode of Point J, a podcast aired by RTS, several scientists discuss the history and tradition behind the choice of this colour. We are pleased to share that Prof. Christine Mohr was a guest speaker on the show.
Christine discussed the existing research on purple, its significance, and why she believes it represents feminists and their cause well, much better than pink.

Don’t forget to wear something purple on this day next year, and for now, enjoy listening!
