Our new study shows that novel interactive technology boosts people’s enjoyment with artworks
A new study, led by the Colour Experience team, in collaboration with Loïc Baboulaz from ARTMYN and Prof Helmut Leder and Anna Fekete from the University of Vienna, investigated how interactive exploration of extremely high-resolution reproductions of paintings and cultural objects influenced users’ aesthetic appreciation. We concluded that novel interactive technology boosted engagement with art by making it appear more interesting and pleasant. However, it did not improve memory. The study has been published at the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, and received popular media attention.
